Lenient or strict??

So, I was talking to my Mom yesterday and she asked if my sister (Ashlea) had told her the question she asked her.  I said no (which surprised my Mom since she says we tell each other everything (which is pretty true)).  So, she told me she asked my sister if I was a lenient mom or a strict mom.  I asked my Mom what my sister said and she asked me to answer first.  So I said in the middle.

She did not tell me what my sister said (even though I called my sister and found out and she said I was fairly strict) but she told me I was between the middle and strict.  At first I was hurt.  A the time I didn't know why, but I was.  

So, Andrew came home and I told him about our conversation and he was happy that my Mom's answer was fairly strict.  He said that was a good thing.  So I started thinking and I realized when my Mom said I was strict I heard that to be that I was a mean Mom and that is what made me sad.  But really it is not the same at all and Andrew's response made me realize that it is okay that I am not lenient with our children.  Being a Mom is my job and I have to do the best job I can.  They are our legacy and we are responsible to raise them in the best way we can.  I also took strict to be a Mom that was not fun and I try to have a lot of fun with my children.  I try to play with them and love them but I also try to set boundaries and rules and want them to have manners, respect, etc.

So, if someone asked you what type of Mom you were what would you say and would you be okay with the answer?
