So, our little dude has had ear problems and sinus issues since he we met him. Last week we went in to put in tubes and remove his adenoids. He did great in surgery and the dr. said he really needed both surgeries. He has been on antibiotics for 9 out of the last 11 weeks. Crazy, I know and yet his adenoids were still infected. His current antibiotic is extra strength and our poor guys bum is so beat up. It is red and bloody and bumpy and he cries when we change him. We are trying to give him bare bum time but it is hard when he is going diarrhea all the time. I feel so bad for him. I also have to say it was hard seeing him come out of anesthesia. He was so disoriented and strong and just cried and squirmed until he fell asleep on me and then when he woke up he was as happy as can be.
But about our amazing little boy. He has had all of these issues and has remained the happiest of kids. I mean, just happy. Our littlest dude is just a ball of sunshine. I took him to the audiologist 2 weeks ago and they commented on how special our little boy is. He said he sees kids all the time but not any that are as outgoing, happy, and well behaved as our son. Proud Momma moment. Then we went to the ENT to review the reports of x-ray and hearing test (which showed hearing lost that we are hoping is just from all the fluid but if not we will deal w/ it) and the dr. looked him and B just sat there happy and content. If the dr. needed an ear he would just let him look. Then he too commented on how rare and happy and well behaved our little guy was. Now, Daddy was here this time so proud Momma and Daddy :)
Since the surgery B has been great. Yesterday he had a fever to go along w/ the severe diaper rash and it was one of the first times that I saw a huge change in his personality (even w/ all the ear infections he has remained just happy). And it was nothing bad he just wanted us to hold him all day. So, we did and then we put him to bed bare bummed on me until he was asleep in our bed. Then we diapered our little guy up and laid on either side of him and just looked at him. Then Andrew said "I am so glad we adopted" and I said "I'm so glad we were able to grow our family just how we did b/c our children are amazing!"
So, we pray that our boy continues to heal and that this surgery will help him feel better and not be sick and on antibiotics all the time.
And did I mention he will be 2 this month! Wow, time is flying by.
